What is Embedded Finance Review?

I started Embedded Finance Review (website) at the end of 2022 to publish content focused on embedded finance. I started with a few simple educational blog posts.

There is a lot of embedded finance content out there, unfortunately, many of them only touch the surface and are often not helpful for companies that aspire to build an embedded finance product. I aim to curate, share and amplify stories and learnings from companies that have successfully launch embedded finance products that others can learn from.

Since the launch of Embedded Finance Review, my activities have evolved:

  1. In early 2023 I started a bi-weekly newsletter curating the most important embedded finance news for my subscribers (>1.300 as of October 2024)
  2. In May 2023 I hosted my very first embedded finance event (so far 4 events)
  3. In June 2024 I launched a bi-weekly podcast where I interview the builders and shapers of embedded finance
  4. In the second half of 2024, I plan to host my first exclusive embedded finance dinner (check the very end of this document for details)

Who is behind Embedded Finance Review?

Embedded Finance Review was started by Lars Markull (LinkedIn) at the end of 2022. I have worked in fintech since 2014 and spent most of time on the infrastructure provider side. I was part of the founding team at figo, the first open banking provider in Germany, where I worked from 2014-2019. Since 2019 I am focusing on Embedded Finance and joined Weavr at the end of 2020 as the first commercial hire. I left Weavr at the end of 2022, to become an embedded finance advisor and content creator.

Why do you host embedded finance events?

The events share the purpose of providing a physical place for industry stakeholder to connect and learn from each other. This is helpful for non-financial brands that are just starting to build their first financial product but also caters to experienced embedded finance leaders at bigger corporates. The feedback has been extremely positive and many of the participants join for the next event.

What events have you hosted already?

So far I have hosted three events in 2023 and 2024. The events are informal evening events with short presentations and plenty of time to network. Each event had between 50 and 100 participants
